I read something on the TV in the early hours of today. I was wide awake after tossing on the bed for too long. So I decided to see what was on TV and had the privilege of seeing the intro of SABC International News. They must have a word for that in the Media vocabulary, but I don’t know what it’s called. Anyway, the words were displayed in singles and it asked: “Why are people in Politics? Is it for War, People, and so on like that. As a former political science student and an averagely political-minded person, that caught my attention. Of course I had tossed burning questions like that in my head several times, more than I can recall. It’s just a waste of energy because the response is staring me right in the face….Majority of politicians venture into politics for selfish reasons. Simple! It is not a sin to dream...I find comfort in having fantasies sometimes.I remember the things I used to wonder about as a child.The power of imagination is so strong it makes your day-dream almost a reality.What I still do till date is imagine what life would be like,having no pressure this much and a tranquility instead.But I agree that life without an adventure is boring,dry and uninteresting...Still,there are times I just wish I could be whisked away to some farm house or some country home,where all you see is natural.A place where you'll be awoken by the cooing and whistling of birds,where the stream flows gently without turbulence,where you can hear the King of the jungle roar,yet not be afraid.A place where you can take walks and not fear for your life.A serene place where everyone knows and appreciates sharing the same neighbourhood,where kids can explore their childhood curiousity,where everyone's concerned about everyone's safety...I dream of just going some place

A plea...

They make me feel like am whining. I look around and when I see my fellow country people, seemingly comfortable and almost uncaring or undisturbed; I often wonder if am the only person whining about missing home so much. But apparently, am not alone in that   thought. I have been in conversations with a few ladies and they also seem to share my feelings. Infact, not just   fellow Nigerians, but a colleague here at the office and of different national. But what seem bother me is how much others in Diaspora have completely lost touch with their roots and seem to be compensated by the comfort of the West. I strongly believe home is home, no matter the comfort. One thing is certain though, the developing nations have lost some of the best of their brains to the developed nations.
